Abstract

The article on the material of the „Great Consolidated Spelling Dictionary of Modern Ukrainian Vocabulary” analyzes the composition of triphonemic words with initial breakthrough phoneme in Ukrainian and connecting features of individual phonemes in triphonemic words, constructs models of triphonemic words with initial breakthrough phoneme of modern Ukrainian literary language. The study revealed the composition of triphonemic words with the initial breakthrough phoneme in the Ukrainian language, elucidated the connecting possibilities of phonemes in triphonemic words with the initial breakthrough phoneme and built models of triphonemic words with the initial breakthrough phoneme of modern Ukrainian literary language. The analysis was conducted on the basis of the „Great Consolidated Spelling Dictionary of Modern Ukrainian Vocabulary”. The study is based on the system of phonemes of the Ukrainian language, proposed by P. P. Kostruba. It was found that the most numerous among all three-component models with the fi rst component of the breakthrough phoneme are the following models: POF ‒ 111, PON ‒ 104 and POP ‒ 82, less numerous PNO ‒ 25, POA ‒ 22, PFO ‒ 5, PFF ‒ 1. The most characteristic there are such combinations of elements in the triphonemic distributive structure with the fi rst breakthrough phoneme: „breakthrough + vowel + fricative”, „breakthrough + vowel + semi-open” and „breakthrough + vowel + breakthrough”. Breaking phonemes /t/ and /b/ have the greatest connecting possibilities. The fi rst component among all breakthrough phonemes are the phonemes /t/, /b/, /n/, /k/. Thus, in the modern Ukrainian language among the three-component models with the fi rst component of the breakthrough phoneme the most typical are the following models: POF, PON. Characteristic are such combinations of elements in the triphonemic distributive structure with the fi rst breakthrough phoneme, as: „breakthrough + vowel + fricative”, „breakthrough + vowel + semi-open” and „breakthrough + vowel + breakthrough”. The words in which they occur belong to the periphery of the lexical system of the Ukrainian language. Such distributive structures of three phonemes are not typical for the modern Ukrainian language.
