Abstract

The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of supervision as a technology for developing the professionalism of psychologists, trainers and coaches. It was determined that the purpose of supervision is the growth of specialists’ professional skills and personal qualities, which are important in working with people. Supervision helps to adhere to the methodological component, to receive advice on solving ethical issues, to feel team unity and support, to take care of one’s own mental health, and to prevent emotional burnout. The peculiarities of the supervision of psychologists and psychotherapists are considered, where attention is paid to the analysis of the ‘psychologist-client’ system, which tends to transference and countertransference. It is emphasized that Ukrainian psychologists are not required to undergo supervision, with the exception of psychotherapists of certain fields. It is noted that the specificities of training and coaching activities place the professional in a situation of loneliness amidst exhausting work with groups. The author singles out the typical goals of supervision for trainers and coaches, including the development of a professional style, preservation of emotional health, enrichment of the instrumental base, professional support and prevention of isolation. It was noted that trainers and coaches of Ukraine are also not obliged to undergo supervision. The main directions of supervision are highlighted, which include methodical assistance, consulting for compliance with professional standards and ethics, maintaining mental health, increasing motivation and preventing emotional burnout. The specifics of protecting the client’s rights and ensuring the specialist’s emotional well-being are described, helping to avoid burnout and maintain a healthy psychological state thanks to supervisory activities. Attention is focused on taking care of the health of the psychologist, trainer or coach, his emotional freedom and safety.
