ACCENTUATION OF SUFFIXAL AND SUFFIXAL-PREFIX VERBS OF THE FIRST STRUCTURAL CLASS IN THE POETRY OF VASYL SYMONENKO

Abstract

The article considers the patterns and accentuation features of verbs of the first structural class with the suffixes -–uva- (-yuva-) in poetry Vasyl Symonenko. It was found that suffixal and suffixal-prefix verbs with the suffix -uva-(-yuva-) have two accent types: К – root and RS – mobile within the suffix. The accent type of MS predominates. The RS accent type in Vasyl Simonenko’s poetry is represented by a significant number of verbs and corresponds to modern literary emphasis. Equally used verbs of the mobile-suffix type are both suffixed and prefixed-suffixed. Among them there is a small number of borrowed verbatives, for example: atakuvaty, eskortuvaty, limituvaty, protestuvaty, triumfuvaty. Prefix-suffix formations of the RS accent type in poetic texts have the same stresses as their prefix-free correlates. At the current stage of language development, verbs with the suffix -uva, (-yuva-) are the most productive class of words that are mainly formed from nouns of foreign origin. As for the accent type K of the verbative with the suffix -uva- (-yuva-), much less is recorded. Prefix-suffix verb forms that are formed by means of various prefixes prevail, mainly – these are verb forms of the imperfective form: vyvershuvaty, vyboriuvaty, vyspivuvaty, vozvelychuvaty. Only a few suffixed verbs with the suffix -uva- (-yuva-) are attested with a root stress: to boast, to rejoice, to murmur. The general tendencies of the emphatic literary norm are preserved in Vasyl Simonenko’s poetic speech. Poetry influences the fixation of emphasis, the formation of the literary accent norm.
